What's changed

This page lists changes to Sonar Tracker that affect how you use it, newest first. It is not a full release history. Juniper Education announces each change as it happens in Sonar News on the Home page.

September 2026

The reports called Summative Progress Analysis have been renamed Primary Summative Progress Analysis (ARE) and EYFS (2020) Summative Progress Analysis (ARE). They compare judgements at two assessment points through age-related expectations (ARE).

The old names now belong to new reports, Primary Summative Progress Analysis and EYFS (2020) Summative Progress Analysis. These count how many codes a pupil has moved between two points, whatever the band. If a colleague mentions Summative Progress Analysis, check which report they mean. See Progress reports.

The colours that show progress in the Summative Progress Analysis reports were also updated for consistency. Other progress reports keep their own colours, so check each report’s key.

A new filter panel appears across the newer parts of Sonar and Sonar Multi-School, with all the filter options you had before. See Filter pupils. Sonar Multi-School’s filters were improved too: see Find your way around Sonar Multi-School.

The Primary Flight Path report has new summary rows. They show the percentage of pupils below, at, above, and at or above age-related expectations in each column. See Flight Path.

Sonar News announced a trust-level CSV export for Sonar Multi-School, the Trust Export Wizard. Where your trust has it, it appears under Admin as the Pupil Data Export and exports pupil data for several schools at once. See Check data, run exports and manage trust users.

April and May 2026

These changes arrived in the summer 1 half term.

New pages for summative judgements arrived: Primary Summative Assessment (New) and EYFS Summative Assessment (New). They include Bulk Fill, Copy Data From Previous Term and Triangulate, which shows other evidence beside each judgement. See Enter primary summative judgements.

The Primary Summative Data Check Summary and EYFS Summative Data Check Summary reports list pupils with missing judgements at an assessment point. See Check data entry.

Primary Projection Pathway and EYFS Projection Pathway let teachers enter an end-of-year projection for each pupil, with their earlier results on the same row. See Set targets and end-of-year projections.

The Pupil Data Export Wizard, on the School page, exports assessment data to a CSV file for your own analysis. The file arrives in your Inbox. See Export pupil data.

December 2025

The Primary Triangulation of Data Analysis report brings each pupil’s statutory, summative and formative data into a single view. See Triangulation of Data Analysis.

November 2025

Sonar began asking staff in Portal-linked schools to use two-step verification when they sign in, to help protect pupils’ data. See Sign in and switch schools.

September 2025

The Primary Characteristic Attainment Overview and EYFS Characteristic Attainment Overview reports compare attainment across pupil characteristics, including ethnicity and attendance. See Attainment reports.

The Reports page was redesigned. Reports are now grouped by role and purpose, under What are you trying to achieve? See Find and run reports.

The Primary Flight Path report arrived, showing each pupil’s attainment through their time at school, including statutory results. See Flight Path.

August 2025

User roles were renamed to match Juniper Portal. For example, Tracker Owner became Account Owner and Write became Full Edit. See Users and roles.

March 2025

The EYFS Good Level of Development Tracking report tracks a class against the goals needed for a good level of development. See Good Level of Development Tracking.

The Primary Pupil Progress Meeting report maps a class’s judgements in one subject. See Pupil Progress Meeting.

January 2025

The Pupil Overview report, under Analysis, gives a snapshot of pupil characteristics and attendance across the school in a table. See Pupil Overview.

August 2024

The Observations module was released. Staff could record observations with comments and photos, and tag pupils and subjects. See About observations.

June 2024

Sonar gained an export of statutory results as a common transfer file (CTF) for your management information system (MIS), first released as a beta. Stand-alone schools now use it as Statutory Data Export to MIS. Portal-linked schools export CTFs from Juniper MIS instead. See Import and export statutory data.
